Prince Harry & Meghan Markle’s Oprah Interview Nominated For Emmy Award

Prince Harry &  Meghan Markle and  bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey captured the attention of the world — including Emmy voters.

The CBS broadcast of that interview was nominated Tuesday for outstanding hosted nonfiction series or special at September’s Emmy Awards ceremony.

It was during that two-hour special, which aired in March, that Harry and Meghan spoke about feeling unsupported by the British palace before they stepped down from their senior royal duties and left the United Kingdom.

Harry and Meghan, who welcomed their second child — daughter Lilibet Diana — last month, now live in Southern California.

Meghan, 39, also spoke to Winfrey about struggling with her mental health during her time in the U.K., and said she learned of concerns within the palace about “how dark” their son Archie’s skin might be before his 2019 birth.

The other 2021 nominees for outstanding hosted nonfiction series or special are “Stanley Tucci: Searching for Italy;” David Letterman’s “My Next Guest Needs No Introduction:”;“United Shades Of America With W. Kamau Bell” and Showtime’s “Vice.”

The 73rd Emmy Awards ceremony is set to take place Sept. 19 at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, with Cedric the Entertainer hosting in front of a limited audience.
